By A Representative

The India Palestine Solidarity Forum and the Palestine Solidarity Group, affiliated with the National Alliance of People’s Movements have submitted a memorandum to all Members of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, demanding immediate and categorical condemnation of what they described as genocide, forced starvation, and ethnic cleansing in Palestine by Israel. The appeal called on the Indian government to break its silence and uphold the nation’s historic commitment to justice and non-alignment.
The memorandum, endorsed by prominent figures including Medha Patkar, Tushar Gandhi, Dr. G.G. Parikh, Adv. Prashant Bhushan, and Justice Kolse Patil (Retd.), urged India to demand an immediate ceasefire, ensure full humanitarian access in Gaza, and condemn both the U.S. role and Israeli policies. It also called on the Indian government to recognize Zionism as racism in accordance with UN Resolution 3379, and to sever military and institutional ties with Israel.
The signatories demanded a reaffirmation of India's commitment to a sovereign Palestinian state, support for international legal mechanisms including ICC arrest warrants, and cessation of Indian corporate profiteering from arms sales. The memorandum further urged greater parliamentary oversight, public dialogue, and protection of independent journalism.
Medha Patkar emphasized the need for India to act according to Article 51 of its Constitution and promote peace, while Tushar Gandhi criticized the Modi government’s silence on Israel’s blockade of essential supplies. Climate justice advocate Soumya Dutta called it a defining moment in global history, warning that unchecked neo-imperial expansionism could spread. Hyderabad-based activist Nikita called for urgent international accountability.
The groups urged citizens to share the memorandum with their MPs through email or in-person meetings to ensure the issue is raised in Parliament. The full memorandum is available online for download. The India Palestine Solidarity Forum and Palestine Solidarity Group reiterated their call for India to act in solidarity with the Palestinian people and uphold human rights and international law.
