Protesters in Haridwar, Delhi support young saint fasting for the sake of Ganga

One-day fast was observed at Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar, by youth under the leadership of Varun Baniyan, who announced that their protest by tying black ribbon on their arm will continue till the young saint, Atmabodhanand, is on fast for more than 100 days for saving Ganga. Addressing the protesters, former MLA Amrit Kumar said that youths should fight for Ganga, while youth leader Amardeep Roshan pledged support to the movement.
Meanwhile, at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, relay fast for saving Ganga entered the seventh day, with social workers, lawyers, politicians and people from different walks of life, came forward to express their solidarity for protest. Sandeep Pandey, Magsaysay award winning social workers, underscored the need to unite in order to fight together for Ganga.
Among those who sat on dharna included senior Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan, women’s rights leader Subhashini Ali, president of the National Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and veteran Gandhian thinker Ramchandra Rahi, Khadai Khidmatgar leader Faisal Khan, and Kisan Sabha president Hannan Mollah.
