No war, only peace: A call for human and global interdependence

By Ishwar Das Khajuria*
The recent statements by the heads of the armed forces of two neighboring countries, warning each other of potential consequences, are deeply unfortunate—especially in this era of growing interdependence among nations.
War is anti-human and anti-nature. It offers no real solution to the pressing problems confronting humanity. The world today faces interconnected crises—poverty, unemployment, food scarcity, lack of safe drinking water, drug addiction among youth, global warming, climate change, extreme weather events, and the spread of dangerous viruses and diseases. These realities demand not confrontation, but a politics of peace and interdependence among all societies, communities, and nations.
Every individual and community must cultivate mindsets of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance. We must reject the politics of communal hate and confrontation in all its forms. No person, group, or nation should seek to dominate or conquer others—whether human or natural—because nature itself teaches us that all processes in the universe are mutually interdependent. Everything develops through a natural balance of unity and struggle, a continuous and creative process that sustains life itself.
Conflict between human beings and nature—or between different identities, ethnicities, languages, races, tribes, and nations—is fundamentally opposed to the universal truth of interdependence. Humanity must embrace this truth to ensure survival and harmony.
Let us therefore resolve that wars must end universally, that all weapons of war be destroyed and arms industries shut down worldwide. The use of nuclear and atomic weapons should be completely banned, and all disputes among or within nations must be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means.
The recent warnings exchanged between the defense heads of India and Pakistan are particularly worrisome for the people of both nations—especially for those living along the international border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. They long for real and lasting peace.
Let us stand together to say: No War — Uphold Peace and Interdependence.
