The coalition of American Ambedkarite organizations, protesting against an alleged incident of caste discrimination at Cisco, an American multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in San Jose, California, has regretted that MNC’s HR has “not taken the case of the caste victim as a matter of urgency, but instead worked against providing justice.”
Calling it “seriously alarming”, in a joint statement, they said, following sharp rise in South Asian population over the last couple of decades, especially in strategic positions in the American corporate bastion, “our worst fears are coming true where caste plays a most decisive role in every walk of life as it is an indelible mark in the genetics of the migrants from the subcontinent.”
The statement said, “It is about time that caste becomes a legislative matter”, insisting, the US government should “take necessary measures to penalize caste-based discrimination -- a remnant of India’s civilization that many Indians have transported to America.”
“We demand the private corporations and publicly funded organizations to fully embrace an anti-caste framework in their work ethic. Caste centric policy will not only help the Indian American citizens but also to its global offices wherever caste has transported with South Asian employees”, the statement said.
Those who have signed the statement include Ambedkar International Center, Ambedkar International Mission, Ambedkarites International Mission Society of Canada, Ambedkar Association of North America, Ambedkar Buddhist Association of Texas, Boston Study Group, and Chetna Association of Canada.
