Hold peace talks with Pakistan, send aid mission to Palestine: Modi urged

The Socialist Party (India) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggesting that the government drop its plan to send seven delegations of political leaders abroad to present India’s position on terrorism. Instead, the party recommends sending one delegation to Pakistan to begin a dialogue process supported by confidence-building steps.
In an open letter signed by Sandeep Pandey, General Secretary (photo), Shahid Saleem, National Committee Member, and journalist Rosamma Thomas, the party states that improved relations with Pakistan could help address the Kashmir issue and concerns related to terrorism.
The letter further suggests using the funds saved from the global tours to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine. The party proposes that India coordinate a mission to air-drop aid supplies and inform Israel in advance of such a plan. Other countries could be invited to join the effort, and if no other country participates, the party suggests India proceed independently.
The party also proposes that volunteers from the armed forces be invited to participate in such a mission and expresses confidence that there would be sufficient interest. It calls on the Prime Minister to support this initiative and lead efforts to provide aid to Palestine.
The letter was sent to the Prime Minister by email and includes contact details of the signatories.
