India’s solar push reflected on Justdial, pan-India solar searches up 173% YoY, 77% QoQ

India is witnessing a sharp surge in consumer interest for solar energy solutions, mirroring the country’s accelerated renewable energy transition. Data from Justdial, India’s leading local search engine, shows a significant rise in searches for solar panel dealers and cleaning services between April–June 2025 (AMJ), compared with both the previous quarter (JFM’25) and the same period last year (AMJ’24).

India’s leading local search and discovery platform, offering services across web, mobile apps, voice, and text, through its platforms, Justdial connects millions of users with businesses, while its B2B marketplace JD Mart helps MSMEs and enterprises expand their digital presence and reach new customers.

Pan-India searches for solar panel dealers rose 173% year-on-year and 77% quarter-on-quarter. Patna led the surge, with queries rising to 11 times higher YoY, followed by Delhi at a 7x increase, while Patna saw searches grow 19 times compared to the previous quarter. Chennai and Hyderabad also witnessed a five-fold increase year-on-year, with Hyderabad reporting an additional 130% quarterly growth. Indore recorded a 197% annual increase and tripled its searches in just one quarter. Other major cities such as Jaipur, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow showed strong momentum, with Jaipur’s searches growing 109% QoQ and Pune up 133% YoY.

Consumer attention is not limited to installation alone, as demand for solar panel cleaning services also doubled year-on-year across India. Delhi led with a 92% increase, followed by Lucknow (77%), Ahmedabad (63%), and Vadodara (43%). The trend highlights rising awareness around the upkeep of solar panels for improved efficiency and durability.

The surge in demand coincides with India reaching a key milestone of 100 GW in domestic solar PV module manufacturing capacity in 2025, up from just 2.3 GW in 2014. Backed by government incentives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, leading players like Reliance and Avaada have significantly boosted the country’s solar production base, strengthening India’s position as a global solar leader.

This rising interest, reflected in digital search behaviour, underscores how rapidly India is adopting renewable energy solutions. Marking Akshay Urja Diwas in 2025 with the achievement of 100 GW manufacturing capacity, the country signals a decisive step toward a cleaner, self-reliant energy future.
