Mumbai education company to 'empower' women through abacus training

By A Representative
Kids Inteligence, which calls  itself a supportive education company engaged in providing end-to-end solutions for the development of children’s brains, has decided to incentivise homemakers and professionals to join its abacus coaching business. The organization claims itself to be a leading abacus teaching and training institute of Mumbai.
Company founder Shubhada Bhave told an expert abacus teachers' meet in Mumbai that, while there are large number huge students seeking abacus education, there is a paucity in availability of trained and expert teachers, one reason why Kids Inteligence has decided "to do something"  for empowering homemakers -- mostly women -- and professionals.
Abacus is usually palm-sized wooden frame with minimum five sliding rows, a calculating tool that has been in use for centuries, much before the adoption of the written modern numeral system. "It is still widely used by merchants and traders across the globe", says a company communique.
Kids Inteligence claims, it has found that 50% Indian homemakers aspire to become financially independent and create their own identity when they were young. Empowered with abacus, homemakers play an "important role in moulding the future of a child", Bhave insisted.
Meanwhile, Kids Inteligence has been involved in training as many children it can in abacus. It claims to have trained more than 1,000 kids to enable them to showcase their mental arithmetic prowess.

  1. Thank you for your awesome service to the child. During early and middle childhood, the brain forms and refines a complex network of connections in the brain through synaptogenesis, pruning, and myelination. The process of forming connections is biologically driven, but experiences also promote synapse formation.

Neville Cardus: The man who turned cricket writing into poetry

By Harsh Thakor*  Neville Cardus was one of the most remarkable literary figures of the twentieth century. A prolific English writer and critic, he achieved distinction in two vastly different fields: cricket and classical music. Entirely self-taught, Cardus rose from humble beginnings to become both the cricket correspondent and chief music critic of The Manchester Guardian . His achievements in these contrasting disciplines earned him widespread acclaim and established him as one of the foremost critics of his generation. In February 2025, the cricketing and literary world marked the fiftieth anniversary of his death, which occurred in February 1975.

Ideological shifts and structural realities within India's left-wing insurgency

By Harsh Thakor*  The Maoist insurgency in India is arguably at its weakest point since the formation of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in 2004. Years of sustained counterinsurgency operations, leadership losses, shrinking territorial influence, declining recruitment, and growing technological advantages enjoyed by the state have significantly eroded the movement's operational capabilities.

The Dalit body on screen: Stereotypes, sacrifice, and subjugation in Hindi films

By Dr. Prem Singh*  Despite centuries of reformist efforts, from Gandhi and Ambedkar to contemporary activists, the caste system remains deeply embedded in the Indian psyche. One of the primary reasons for this persistence is the religious sanction provided by Brahminical scriptures, which have shaped not only social structures but also cultural and artistic expressions.
